Psychological Flow, aka The Zone

Countless incredible performances have been credited to flow, driving achievers in every domain to pursue its prized and elusive graces.

Shannon Thompson, Mental Performance Consultant

Participants engaged in an activity and find themselves in “the zone” have attained a state of mind referred to as psychological flow. In Japanese it’s “mushin” which is a mental state achieved when a person’s mind is free from thoughts of anger, fear, or ego during combat or everyday life. Achievements that deliver good, timely and accurate feedback can help a student achieve this state of mind. That’s desirable because people tend to be motivated to pursue it.
