Psychological Flow, aka The Zone

Participants engaged in an activity and find themselves in “the zone” have attained a state of mind referred to as psychological flow. In Japanese it’s “mushin” which is a mental state achieved when a person’s mind is free from thoughts of anger, fear, or ego during combat or everyday life. Achievements that deliver good, timely and accurate feedback can help a student achieve this state of mind. That’s desirable because people tend to be motivated to pursue it.
